From bake sales, raffles, bag-packing, right up to gigs, pub quizzes, hikes, marathons and more – we love it when people want to raise funds for us.

Yorkshire Marathon 2026
When: Sunday 18 October
Where: Starting and finishing at the University of York Charity place cost: £50
We’re thrilled to announce that, after the success of our first ever entry in 2025, we have 5 charity places
for this year’s Yorkshire Marathon. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or want to take on a bucket list challenge, this is a brilliant opportunity
to challenge yourself while supporting much-needed neighbourly help for older people across York.
Yorkshire 10 Mile 2026
When: Sunday 18 October
Where: Starting and finishing at the University of York
Charity place cost: £20
If marathons are a bit too much this time around, but you still want to overcome a real physical test while
supporting our cause, then the 10 miler might be right for you!
Yorkshire Marathon Relay 2026
When: Sunday 18 October
Where: Starting and finishing at the University of York
Charity place cost (for whole team): £50
Topple the Yorkshire Marathon with as part of a team effort, with runners taking on distances from 3 to
6.1 miles each.
PLEDGES SOUGHT BY 28TH AUGUST - for this year's Big Give’s Christmas Challenge!
In order to raise up to £6000 through vital match-funding, we’re hoping to take part in another Big Give Christmas Challenge. To do this we first need to secure £1500 in pledges – which can be made up by one or multiple donors.

Previous events and campaigns
Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge
In what was a real epic against the elements, for the first time ever, we took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks: Ingleborough, Pen-y-ghent and Whernside.
Huge well done to Meadow, Carla, Eden, Ellie, Christina, Hermione, Mark and Kelly for their amazing effort and fundraising – totalling to over £2000 to help support our work for older people in need of neighbourly help across York.
April to June 2026: We took part in Waitrose York's "Community Matters" initiative
We were chuffed to be one of Waitrose featured local charities, where shoppers are given a green token at the check-out to ‘vote’ for one of three different causes – with grants of £500, £1000, and £1500 given to 3rd, 2nd, and 1st place respectively.
June 2026: Café Take Over at Acomb Clothes Swap
We once again enjoyed the chance to serve up teas, coffees, and cakes to help support York Neighbours – raising £60 in the process. Big thanks to Linda, Nimra, Christina and Kallum for contributing their time and baking skills!
May 2026: Company of Cordwainers of the City of York - Annual Livery Dinner
We were delighted to be chosen by Joy Cullwick, the Company’s newly elected ‘Master’, as the Cordwainer’s Charity of the Year – and most grateful for donations received from guests of their Annual Livery Dinner.
March 2026: Collecting spare change donations in Waitrose
We were pleased to be invited back to do this again – and were most grateful to Lynn, Nimra, Chris, Katherine and Judy who all did stints here across two afternoons, raising over £200.
March 2026: Café Take Over at Acomb Clothes Swap
In what is a lovely community-led event we really enjoyed the chance to serve up teas, coffees, and cakes to help support York Neighbours. Big thanks to Lynn, Christina, Nimra, Helen, Leah, and Kallum for contributing either time and baking skills!
February 2026: Music night with Claire Coupland
Huge thanks to the Old Peterite Lodge for organising what was a brilliant evening out in Poppleton, and raised over £800 in support of York Neighbours!
January 2026: Collecting spare change donations in Waitrose
Big thanks to Lynn, Tina, Katherine and Ryan who kindly gave an hour or two each to hold the buckets for donations, and give flyers out to those interested.
December 2025: The Big Give’s “Christmas Challenge”
Huge thanks to everybody who supported our successful match-funding campaign here. Thanks to your generosity we hit our £2000 target, enabling us to double this amount thanks to our match-funders.
October 2025: Yorkshire Marathon 2025 - Full Marathon, 10 Mile, and Relay
In what was our first year entering into these three races, our amazing runners raised a total of over £5,500 to help support our work for older people in York.
